Our social responsibility
At BDO we are very much aware of our social responsibility. as it is an intrinsic part of our profession. In all our business operations, we are focused on people, both inside and outside our organisation. All our sustainability efforts fall under three Ps: People, Planet and Profit.
People: use talents
In order for our employees to reach their full potential, we provide a stable and stimulating working environment. We encourage all BDO employees to develop themselves and make optimal use of their talents. whilst always maintaining a sensible approach: a healthy balance between work and private life. On our vacancy website, werkenbijbdo.nl, you can read more about BDO as an employer.
Our advisers take full responsibility for their work and profession. We provide ethical, reliable and independent advice; our publications are intended to stimulate social debate. In addition to their jobs, various BDO employees work as consultants, as lecturers at colleges or as professors at universities.
Our quality promise is not just a statement: our comprehensive quality policies make sure that we comply with legislations and external standards and regulations of professional bodies. We also check other organisations in the capacity of external auditor. Each year we publish a transparency report, where we expand on topics such as our quality policies.
Planet: spare the environment
Our new office buildings comply with the latest standards for energy use and the use of sustainable materials. Our wage slips are only sent digitally, and any print work is done on double-sided FSC approved paper. Toners of printers are always recycled. By continuing to invest in our digital workplaces, we minimise pressure on the environment.
My BDO, our Office of the Future, take this a step further. In this fully online accountancy and advice office, work processes are fully automated and information can be exchanged securely. Making us work faster and more efficiently. This again translates into less pressure on the environment.
Profit: support business
At BDO we look beyond the boundaries of our own area of expertise. For example, we support various social organisations, either financially or by means of knowledge transfer. The BDO Foundation was established to support (local) projects BDO employees are involved in. In 2016 we started working together with the Bart De Graaff Foundation. Which helps people between 15 and 35 years of age who have an impairment. This help includes coaching and financial support in starting up their own businesses.
